In the streets of Rotterdam the Roach is a symbol for being indestructible. With the city almost completely bombed in WWII, the hardworking men and women persevered and rebuild the city into a new Metropolis it is today.
X-21
Founded in 1993 as the very first streetwear shop in Rotterdam, X-21 are at the basis of Rotterdam street style. X21 has developed its own culture over the years. They’ve carefully assembled collections, consisting of iconic streetwear labels, supplemented with the best contemporary fashion brands. X21 is about design, fantastic graphics, the right fit, original details and quality.
Many people think that my work is political, but I have not interest in politics. Only beautiful people, beautiful images, beautiful identities and beautiful photos.
For the Rebels & Roaches collection we wanted to fuse Rotterdam’s heritage with it’s street culture. By taking the roach and combining it with common streetwear staples and German military aesthetics we delivered a perfect marriage of X-21’s philosophy, heritage and street culture.
To display the collection to the public we teamed up with Rotterdam based photographer Stacii Samidin for a lookbook and lookbook video.
